KS2 Edible Playgrounds

Year 3

Today during our Creative Monday session, Year 3 made their own maze/ labyrinth.  We know that a minotaur can be captured in this life size puzzle.

“ Here is the entrance and this is the exit.”       “This is the minotaur and he can’t get out!”

“Look, you walk this way and turn and go along and then you will see the exit.”

The children really enjoyed making their own maze

Asexual reproduction of plants Year 5

Reegan, "I enjoyed going outside for the task in hand. I also enjoyed the fresh air and different environment."
Shannon, "Today we planted some garlic bulbs, rosemary springs and succulent Miranda. I enjoyed planting them as we didn't use seeds."
"Today we planted rosemary, garlic and a succulent Miranda plant. We put soil inside a container and planted the cuttings/bulbs. really liked the process, also it helped me understand asexual reproduction. I've learnt that the one parent plant makes a clone of themselves to reproduce. Lastly, I really enjoyed this lesson and wish to do it again." Habibah.

Edible Playground - March 2021

Year 5 have been planning on developing the quad area by their classroom to encourage wildlife to visit.  We have made a lovely bug hotel and bird feeders which we hope the birds and insects will visit.

Edible Playgrounds   -   Year 3   -   Harvest of lettuce.

Back in September, the children in Year 3 planted some lettuce seeds.  Over the months we have looked after the beds by weeding and watering the germinated seeds and today children at school were able to harvest the leaves!  What a great success!
